What is the IBM License Metric Tool?

The IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT) is provided by IBM free of charge to ensure the monitoring of IBM software in virtualized environments. This gives the customer the option of licensing IBM software according to the virtual processor power actually used instead of licensing the entire physical server capacity on which IBM software is installed. The use of the tool can therefore save licensing costs. At the same time, IBM's conditions regarding completeness and maintenance must be strictly adhered so that IBM's subcap conditions are recognized in an audit without high additional demands.
