catworkx behind the scenes: What does catworkx actually do?

Who or what is catworkx, what do we do here? What do we offer our customers, what can they expect from us? What is our focus and who is Atlassian? Simply put, we are a consulting company and service provider specializing in Atlassian software products such as Jira and Confluence. We are 22 years young and can already look back on an eventful history. We started out as a small IT service and system provider. Today, we are a large team of 78 employees, are networked worldwide as Atlassian specialists, and have branches in Austria and Switzerland.

Jira Software since 1.0 - Atlassian

The founders and shareholders of catworkx GmbH – Andreas Girnuweit, Oliver Groht, and Dr. Wolfgang Tank – met over 25 years ago at the Microelectronics Application Center (MAZ) in Hamburg-Harburg. After the company was founded on April 17, 1999, catworkx started out as an IT service and system provider on the market. At that time, the core business still consisted of pure standard IT services.


In 2002, the business relationship with the then young Australian company Atlassian became the driving force behind catworkx's current business model and product and service portfolio. You could say: “We've been in love with Jira since version 1.0.”

What began as an interest in Atlassian products has developed over the years: We are now 100 percent specialized in Atlassian solutions and are one of the largest Platinum Partners in the German-speaking region (DACH).

Who or what is Atlassian?

Atlassian was founded in Sydney in 2002 by two Australians: Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar. Atlassian is a provider of software solutions. Originally launched with the bug tracker Jira for planning and tracking development projects, Atlassian now offers flexible solutions for smooth collaboration for teams of all kinds and has over 3,000 employees and 150,000 customers worldwide. Prominent Atlassian products include Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Jira Align, and Confluence. You can find more information about the products here.

What does catworkx offer its customers?

In short, we digitize and optimize business processes in almost all areas of our customers' companies using Atlassian tools, thereby creating efficient process and project management within companies. Atlassian tools can be used to digitize and optimize business processes. This creates clear and transparent task management. The end result is improved teamwork, more efficient workflows, and more transparent project results. Atlassian tools are highly flexible and can be used to solve a wide variety of problems.


We also act as consultants and support providers for our customers in the planning, implementation, introduction, and further development of Atlassian environments and products. We offer our customers a comprehensive portfolio of services, ranging from the analysis of requirements and processes, to the design and implementation of these processes in customer-specific workflows, training for employees, to the installation and operation of the associated infrastructures and the integration of Atlassian tools into the system landscape.


In addition, we advise and support customers in the enterprise segment with scaled agile and digital transformation projects: for example, when a customer with many teams across different business areas wants to work in an agile way. Here, too, we use Atlassian tools such as Jira Align and advise customers on scaled agile development and suitable agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe®). We provide product recommendations, set up these tools, and support their implementation. If required, we also provide training on topics such as agility, Scrum, and other agile frameworks.

Atlassian is a software provider and offers a ticket system (Jira) and a company wiki (Confluence) as its ‘main program.’ The ticket system in particular can be expanded with any number of functions via an app store, similar to smartphones. And that's where we come in: we offer the corresponding (process) consulting and configuration services."
