Insurers have rapidly growing stocks of specialized data. However, 80 percent of this data is currently unused and lies dormant, for example in image archives that cannot be analyzed. Various data sources have to be tapped and information extracted.

Rule-based approaches as well as learning models, which are used for decision support, help in this process. Voice, image and video data are becoming increasingly important - and the systems learn to understand them (almost) "like a human being".
